A TENT which had been pitched at a Ryde car park was set alight last night (Thursday).
The tent was on a grassy verge at the entrance off St Thomas Street car park.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was called at 9.31pm and they sent one crew from Newport and one from Ryde.
The hedge was also alight.
Isle of Wight Police said: "We were called by the fire service just after 10pm last night, August 6, to reports of a tent on fire in the St Thomas Street car park, Ryde.
"The tent was unattended and no call came forward from an aggrieved party."
It is not known who the tent belonged to.
