THE Isle of Wight will again be the test bed for the new NHS coronavirus tracing app, according to BBC reports this morning.

An official announcement is expected later this morning but the BBC says the Isle of Wight, along with another area and a volunteer group, has been chosen to pilot the app, which replaces the NHS-X one pioneered on the Island in May.

The software will be based on Apple and Google's technology of one smartphone detecting another.

Around 60,000 Islanders downloaded the NHS app, which, according to BBC reports, was not taken up because of its incompatibility with Apple iphones.
