PEOPLE travelling home to the UK from France, Malta and The Netherlands will have to quarantine from Saturday, the government has announced.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said the measure would also apply to people travelling from Monaco, Turks and Caicos, and Aruba.

The move is to prevent the spread of coronavirus, following a rise in cases in several countries in recent weeks.

On Thursday, France reported 2,524 new coronavirus cases in 24 hours, the highest daily increase since its lockdown was lifted in May.

Coronavirus regulations mean you must self-isolate for 14 days when you arrive in the UK.
