A WOMAN well known and respected among the Isle of Wight antique community has died at the age of 72.

Susan Williams was born in Hampshire's Hartley Wintney in 1947.

Her father was a squadron leader in the Royal Air Force, with much of her youth and education spent travelling. This included postings in Sri Lanka, USA and various parts of the southern England.

She married husband Tony in 1974, accompanying and supporting his career across the UK and Saudi Arabia.

Moving to the Isle of Wight in after Mr Williams was appointed manager of NatWest's Ventnor branch, the couple soon settled in Bembridge.

Isle of Wight County Press:

Upon early retirement in 1994, Mr and Mrs Williams immediately returned to the Island, resettling in Bembridge.

A love of ceramics and antiques led Mrs Williams to co-run Harbour Antiques in the town.

She later set up her own shop, Cobwebs Antiques and Collectables, in the village and became an active member of the Bembridge Business Association.

After nine years of running the shop she closed her doors for the final time, but maintained her village connections by taking part in the crafts at the Village Hall Bazaar every Thursday.

At the weekly event she sold a wide range of self-knitted and crocheted products along with teddy bears.

Mrs Williams is survived by her husband, daughters Mandy and Beth and granddaughter Lilli.

A funeral service will take place at 11.15am on Thursday 27 August at the IW Crematorium, numbers are limited due to Covid restrictions.

Family flowers only, but donations, if desired, to Mountbatten Hospice c/o Geoff Leather Funeral Directors, 45 St James Street, Newport.
