THE latest online Quay Arts Folk Club is to celebrate international Talk Like a Pirate Day this weekend with a double bill of The Crew and Paul Armfield on Sunday September 20.
Leading the celebrations will be a set from The Crew, a band branded 'rascals of the waves', and led by Cap’n Paul Sturgess. Formed in 2009, the group plays a raw, rhythmic combination of folk songs, sea shanties and morris tunes.
The prolific Paul Armfield will join the band on the bill. The former Quay Arts head honcho is considered one of the most thoughtful and sensitive songwriters on the south coast.
Paul recently released his new LP, Domestic.
Folk Club co-organiser, John Bentley, said: “If you haven’t heard of Talk Like a Pirate Day, why not channel your inner Jack Sparrow and put on an eye patch?
"Please also make a donation to Quay Arts in return for tuning in."
Starting on Sunday at 7.30pm, the Quay Arts Folk Club will be streamed on Facebook and YouTube.
Along with guest spots from The Crew and Paul Armfield, the two-hour feed will feature shorter floor spots from Guith, Sandy Kealty, Terry Pearson and Alan Springate.
