ISLE of Wight musicians Solace are preparing to step onto a live stage for the first time since March following a summer decimated by Covid-19.

The band consists of Simon Dobbs (lead vocals/acoustic guitar), Paul Les (electric guitar), Pete Mulhern (bass guitar) and Martin Osborne (drums).

The foursome joined forces in spring 2019, performing songs written by Simon, and, after various changes, the current lineup was cemented.

Songs performed by Solace are anthemic and inspirited in nature, with listeners taken on an internal journey.

The band said: "Lockdown has lead to great disappointment for us and our fans, with performances at the Rhythmtree Festival and many others being cancelled.

"Ongoing restrictions have created a situation nationwide where grassroots musicians are struggling and many venues are either not booking live music or closing down altogether, stifling creativity across the globe.

"It appears central governments are unwilling to protect the wider arts industry and place little importance on creativity, which in turn impacts on the ability of people to think critically."

Solace members have used this time to complete work on eleven original tracks, with plans afoot to record a studio album and — Covid restrictions permitting — promote the LP with a tour.

The band will return to live action at the Simeon Arms in Ryde on Friday, September 25, from 8.30pm. Booking is essential on 614954.
