TODAY (Friday) is the final chance for writers to submit entries to the Isle of Wight Literary Festival.

Organisers of the Write on Wight event want local scribes to share the aspect of the Island that inspires their work, in a short video.

Submissions will be curated and played at an online event next month (October).

Over the centuries many famous writers have made the Island their base: Alfred Lord Tennyson, Winston Churchill, John Armstrong, Charles Dickens, John Keats, Ivana Popov, Enid Blyton, Anthony Minghella and literary festival vice patron Alan Titchmarsh.

All entrants who share their island inspiration will be entered into a prize draw.

Prizes include a two-day return car ferry journey, and book vouchers.

The Isle of Wight Literary Festival, an established event on the UK Arts calendar, is now in its ninth year.

The festival provides a far-reaching eclectic programme designed to attract a wide audience and increase the cultural richness of the Isle of Wight.

Submissions for the competition can be made on the official Write on Wight page of the Literary Festival website.
