There will be five fewer Red Funnel car ferry departures, in both directions, and some changes to sailing times on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from Tuesday September 29, until November 2.

The firm says that is in line with its usual seasonal timetable adjustments.

Vehicle ferry crossing times on Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday will remain unchanged, however.

The cross-Solent operator also plans to increase its freight-only ferry sailings, via Red Kestrel, to create more space for private vehicles on its car ferries.

Red Jets sailings will remain unchanged.

Red Funnel said: "With the latest government guidance now advising people to work from home again where possible, Red Funnel expects to see some reduction in overall commuter numbers, supporting the decision to keep the Red Jet timetable as-is until further notice.

"The existing timetable was determined in line with regular commuter and peak travel times, and on-board capacity continues to be reduced to support social distancing measures."
