TWO women from the Isle of Wight will be taking part in the 40th annual London Marathon — without leaving the Island.

Sara Coombes and Laura Holme will be raising money for the Rob Hill Foundation during the virtual event tomorrow(Sunday October 4).

The duo, who are also sisters-in-law, will make their way to their hometown of Ryde via Ventnor, Shanklin, Sandown, Brading and Newport.

The Rob Hill Foundation supports people who struggle to find help through the health service: Those on benefits, at risk of homelessness, and those who are already homeless.

Its workshops, however, are open to everybody.

Sara, who is the Isle of Wight leader for the foundation, said: “I became involved after attending the workshops myself, and am now able to give back and help others who find themselves in a similar situation to me.

"I’ve never walked or run this distance before but am really looking forward to doing the challenge and raising vital funds and awareness for this amazing foundation.

"We would love to raise £2,000 for this amazing cause so we can continue to run our free workshops."

Sponsorship forms are also available in the Arch shop, High St, Ryde and at Aspire Ryde.
