RECENTLY, I had a new bed delivered and arranged for Ben Summers (removals and haulage) to take my old one to the tip.

We no longer drive and don’t have a car.

Ben has done a lot of trips for us in the past, plus a house move, and he is reliable, honest and a really nice person to deal with.

He told me on Wednesday the IW Council had doubled their charges both to the public and to licensed businesses like himself, so future trips for me may not be possible.

I realise the council has to recover some income in these times but surely a move like this is going to increase the possibility of fly-tipping (and the cost of removing same).

Aren’t there more sensible areas that they can find their income than this?
