CHARITIES were the real winner at the sixth annual Hilary Witcomb Day cricket match between the Full Tossers and a select Northwood Cricket Club side.

The match, at Northwood Cricket Club, was won by the Northwood select side this year.

The day raised £1,302, with £1,000 going to Mountbatten and the remainder split between Cancer Research and Macmillan.

Over the years, the event has raised more than £9,700 for charity.

Raffle prizes included signed shirts from goalkeeping brothers Stuart and Simon Moore, darts player Keegan Brown and Warwickshire cricketer Danny Briggs, plus huge hampers from BAE and gift vouchers.

The Co-op, in Mill Hill Road, Cowes, also supplied sausage rolls and Morrisons provided cookies.
