LANESEND Primary School in Cowes has raised more than £3,000 towards the purchase of an all weather track for its field.
The money was raised as part of a sponsored marathon and will allow the Daily Mile to continue in all conditions.
The Daily Mile is a free initiative that sees children run or jog for 15 minutes every day in their primary and nursery schools, promoting health and wellbeing.
A spokesperson for Lanesend Primary said: "Year groups had a 45-minute time slot to do as much as they could and the children smashed our expectations.
"We set the target of completing a marathon collectively which was approx 65 laps. As a school, the children completed 1,953 laps which is 789 miles — the equivalent of 30 marathons.
"We have so far raised £3,100 which is just fantastic, and have such fabulous support from our families who we cannot thank enough."
