ISLE of Wight police were called to a large house party gathering in Ryde in the early hours of yesterday morning (Saturday).

There were suspected to be around 20 individuals having a party.

Officers attended at around 2am and found a number of people already beginning to leave the address and get into taxis.

Upon entry, officers were faced with a group drinking inside, clearly in breach of the ‘Rule of Six’ restrictions.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said: "This type of activity is unacceptable in the current climate.

"The new rules are clear and we all have a personal responsibility for following them to help stop of the spread of a deadly virus.

"Six people have so far been issued with £200 fines in relation to this matter, and our enquiries continue as we consider further enforcement."
