A THIRD case of Covid-19 at an Isle of Wight education faculty within the past 24 hours has been confirmed at Arreton Primary School this evening (Friday).

It follows two other cases of Covid-19 reported by the County Press since yesterday (Thursday) — at the IW College in Newport, Broadlea Primary School in Lake,

A statement from the Isle of Wight Council said: "The Year 1 class bubble and four staff members at Arreton Primary School have been identified as needing to self-isolate as a precautionary measure.

"(This follows) an individual testing positive for Covid-19 and close consultation with Public Health England and the Department for Education,

"A return date (is scheduled for) Thursday November 26.

"All of those that need to self-isolate have been informed, and the school remains safe and open for all other children and staff.

"Maintaining the education of these children is an absolute priority and they will receive high quality home learning throughout this period."

Eleven Island schools have had cases of Covid this term.

As of yesterday, there were 403 pupils and 16 staff self-isolating across the Island.
