A STAFF member at Cowes Enterprise College has tested positive for Covid-19.

Although the member of staff has not been in school for several days, 12 students have been identified as potential contacts and have been asked to self-isolate as a precautionary measure.

An email to parents went out today from principal Rachel Kitley.

It said: "I am writing to update you on some additional precautionary actions that are being undertaken following a staff member hearing this morning they have testing positive for Covid-19.

"The staff member has not been school for several days and having sought advice from the Department for Education, Public Health England, the local council and the Ormiston Academies Trust, a small number of 12 students in total who have been identified as potential contacts are now going to be learning remotely from home and self- isolating as a precaution to limit any transmission of the virus.

"Please note that we have made home contact with all of the families of the 12 students and that if we have not been in contact this morning, your child is not affected."

The County Press reported on November 6 that the entire Year 8 group had been sent home from Cowes Enterprise College to self-isolate.

Across the Island, there were 403 pupils self-isolating on Thursday due to being in bubbles with people having confirmed Covid-19. Read more here.
