Indecision of prime minister has cost lives

From Barry Constable, Chillerton:

I REFER to the letter from Bob Seely MP. (CP, 08-01-21) and his statement within that letter saying the government did not react slowly to changes relating to Tiers One to Four.

Two questions arise from that statement, 1. is he referring to our government? and 2. if so what then would he regard as slow?

Assuming he is referring to our government, then why is that the prime minister and co were warned some 17 to 18 days prior to the changes of the warning signs regarding the spread of the virus but they chose instead just to fiddle around, mixed message were sent out, the prime minister acted with great indecision and those decisions then seemingly went against scientific and medical advice.

By the time the third lockdown was implemented by Boris Johnson the virus had spread completely out of control. The words horse, stable door and bolt rather come to mind.

With all his indecision, incompetence and ineptitude Mr Johnson must carry a lot of responsibility for the further uncontrolled spread of the virus and of course many unfortunate deaths.

Had he acted with decisiveness when advised by the scientists and medical experts of the dangers it is possible the spread of the virus may well may have been reduced dramatically.

The over riding impression is that Boris Johnson is sadly out of his depth and shows a marked lack of any leadership quality.

We all need to follow the rules and advice to try and contain the virus but we desperately need also some proper leadership from government. It is said Mr Johnson likes to model himself on Churchill; what an insult to Churchill.

In my opinion he is more reminiscent of the Roman Emperor Nero who fiddled why Rome burned.

This country may not be burning but it is rife with disease and we have a leader who just seems to fiddle and diddle around.
