ST MARY'S hospital has had a second death confirmed in the past three days, following a week in which none were recorded.

The latest deaths, which occured February 19 and 20, came a week after the previous one on February 12.

These are cases of people recorded as having died after testing positive for Covid-19.

It brings the total amount of Covid patient deaths at the Isle of Wight hospital to 140 since the start of the pandemic.

A total of 18 hospital deaths have been recorded on the Island in February, compared to 66 in January.

Earlier today, a further seven people were confirmed as having died after testing positive for Covid-19 between January 29 and February 12.

The total number of Isle of Wight Covid deaths now stands at 261, with 110 in care homes, eight in private homes, one in a hospice and two elsewhere.

Three more Islanders tested positive for Covid yesterday, as the rolling rate continues to drop, now standing at 50.1.
