CANDIDATES have been released for local elections as the Isle of Wight will head to the polls in less than a month.

Along with the election of councillors to the unitary authority, the Isle of Wight Council, every local town, parish and community council are also trying to fill seats.

Official nomination papers had to be submitted by 4pm yesterday (Thursday, April 8) with the full candidate lists just released.

Polling stations will open on May 6 but postal votes are being advised if people would be more comfortable not visiting a polling station during the current coronavirus pandemic.
