THE Isle of Wight's Covid rate per 100,000 people has risen to 85.3.

The rise, since yesterday's 72.7, is five days behind, but cases have continued to be added this week.

Today, a further 14 confirmed Covid-19 cases were added to the Island's total, which now stands at 7,164 since the pandemic began. Yesterday, 28 were added.

Just a few days ago, on Thursday, the Island was the second lowest lower tier local authority area for Covid cases, remaining among the lowest into the weekend.

Today, the Island is the 14th lowest, out of 181 areas.

It still remains well below the UK rate of 319.5.

There remains no Covid patients in St Mary's Hospital, with only one patient in since towards the end of May. This is according to the latest available data, from July 6.

Any adult who still needs a first or second Covid vaccine can 'walk in' to the Riverside Centre and other centres, in the coming days, to get their dose.

'Freedom Day' is set for July 19, when most Covid restrictions will be lifted.

However, St Mary's Hospital will keep some of their restrictions.
