A FURTHER 85 confirmed Covid cases have been added to the Isle of Wight's total, according to daily data from Public Health England today (Friday).

It takes the number of Covid cases on the Island since the pandemic began to 9,782.

The rolling rate, measured per 100,000 people, has fallen slightly again, from 420.3 yesterday, to 414.6 today — although this remains significantly above the UK average of 349.6.

There have been two Covid deaths at St Mary's Hospital this week.

On Tuesday, there were 17 people with Covid in hospital, including three on ventilators, government data shows.

Tighter restrictions on visitors were announced at the hospital earlier in the week, due to a rise in positive Covid-19 patients being treated.
