MORE than 40 new Covid cases have been confirmed on the Isle of Wight, according to the latest data.

Public Health England figures released today (Monday) show 46 new cases since yesterday's 34.

It means the Isle of Wight total, since the start of the pandemic, now stands at 11,128.

The Island's rolling rate, in the seven days to September 15, was 222.8.

Yesterday, in the seven days to September 14, that figure stood at 242.5.

The rolling rate peaked in August, at 444.8, when an influx of tourists and more people mixing saw the number of Covid infections rise.

So far in September, 991 new Covid cases have been registered on the Island.

Another person has died in hospital on the Isle of Wight after contracting Covid-19, it was revealed today. 

They are the 168th person to have died here since the start of the pandemic.

Hospital bed data is only updated once a week, but the latest available data shows 32 Covid patients in the wards, of which four are in ventilation beds.
