The eighth annual Harp on Wight International Festival is taking place in Ryde from October 22-26.

Once again a talented range of leading harpists will be both performing concerts and teaching workshops.

For the opening concert at Ryde Methodist Church on October 22, Welsh harpist Anne Denholm, who is the festival patron, will be joining forces with the Voices of the Isle of Wight Choir conducted by Linda Filby-Borrett.

The traditional Saturday afternoon concert showcasing two leading young international harpists features Tara Viscardi from Ireland and Maria McNamee from Northern Ireland.

Lauren Scott has her own solo concert on October 23 and then returns for another performance on the afternoon of October 25 with the participants from the 'Adventures For Lever Harp ' workshop which she is teaching in the festival.

This year's festival looks especially strong for Celtic music, with world-class harpists Catriona McKay from Scotland and Anne-Marie O'Farrell from Ireland holding concerts on October 24 and October 25 respectively.

During the daytime, a popular feature of the festival is always the free to enter exhibition of harps in Ryde Methodist Church made by national manufacturers. Here you will also find sheet music and other harp accessories.
