A NEW work by artist Nick Martin is currently being exhibited at Quay Arts Cafe — but will soon be moving to its new home in Edinburgh.

Nick's first lockdown project was a depiction of Union Street in Ryde, but this, his second lockdown project, features the city of Edinburgh.

The new work took him ten months, but may only be on the Island until the end of October.

You can see it by popping into the cafe, or meet the artist between 5pm and 7pm on Saturday, October 30.

He said: "I thought it was time I did an image of Edinburgh, my home town, as I have made so many collages of other towns.

"I use hand painted paper, with gouache paint, then nail scissors to cut out.

"I know the topography of Edinburgh very well, and together with Google Earth I was able to reconstruct my ‘inner map’ of Edinburgh.

"It required a lot of research and patience, so lockdown was a perfect vehicle for this purpose. All the people are Edinburgh folk or tourists I saw there.

"I wanted the Isle of Wight to see it first before it found its home Up North!"
