IVOR Novello award-winning singer-songwriter, Scott Matthews, is performing on the Isle of Wight next week.

The musician is touring his new album, New Skin, and coming to play at the Quay Arts Centre on October 27.

The collection of recordings came to fruition when Scott was forced to scale a musical Everest due to Covid-19, setting himself the challenge of writing his very first electronica album.

New Skin was released earlier in the year to much acclaim, securing BBC 6 Music breakfast show airplay and rave reviews from the likes of MOJO, Uncut, The Scottish Express Prog Magazine, RNR Magazine and The Upcoming.

Scott is fresh from supporting Led Zeppelin legend, Robert Plant’s Saving Grace at major shows in the summer.

On the tour and performing live again, Scott said: “It’s felt like a long time coming for these new songs to be heard where I intended them to be heard, especially having finished New Skin back in August, last year.

"I always envisaged the electronic beats and rhythmic pulses bouncing off the walls of an old 14th century chapel — something that sounds incongruous, but has always intrigued me.

"With seven studio records having fled their nests, I can’t wait to play the songs that have changed my mind-set towards composition, harmony, texture, lyrical content and my whole being as a songwriter.”

You can listen to the new album on Spotify.
