THE Isle of Wight's rolling rate of new positive Covid-19 cases continues to fall with another significant decrease over the past seven days.

The latest daily figure for Island cases was 86, which brings the total since the pandemic began to 16,360, according to Public Health England.

To put the severity of the UK problem into context, Iceland, with a population two-and-a-half times that of the Isle of Wight, has recorded 15,321 cases.

Yesterday (Friday), there were 114 new cases on the Isle of Wight and 81 on Thursday.

Since last Saturday, the total number of cases has risen by 566. Last Saturday, the number had increased by 603 on the previous week.

All cases recorded are Isle of Wight residents.

The Island's rolling rate has also changed.

In the seven days to November 6, it was 340.1 — 2.1 down on yesterday's figures and 60.5 on the figure produced a week ago.

The national rolling rate now stands at 348.7. Last Saturday, the rate was 408.7.
