AN ASDA superstar has been given a £2,000 holiday voucher after being voted Service Superstar Colleague of the Year 2021 — across all UK stores.

Clare Jones, Newport Asda's community champion, has been with the company since the store opened in 2017.

Community champions listen to the community's needs, working with local people to ensure the store provides support to those who need it most.

In November, Clare was nominated for Service Star Award for helping a customer and her children when the customer became ill.

Clare looked after her children, and then after checking on the customer numerous times, decided to drive her home to make sure she and her children got home safely.

Steve Cooper, security section leader, who nominated Clare, said: “Clare does wonderful things all the time and never asks for anything in return. The colleagues feel it's time she needs to be recognised.”

For that award, Clare received a £250 Virgin Experience voucher, which she will use for a trip to London.

Unbeknown to her, she was then unanimously voted the Service Superstar Colleague of the Year in 2021 and won a £2,000 Virgin Holiday cheque.

Clare thanked her colleagues and said she would be booking a Caribbean holiday for herself and her husband.
