This year's Isle of Wight Sports Achievement Awards saw talented sports people, dedicated teachers and coaches, and their backroom supporters, celebrated during a ceremony at Medina Theatre.

The Isle of Wight Sports Foundation hosted its 47th annual sporting 'Oscars' on April 3.

Among the 24 winners were the Isle of Wight Super 9s cricket team, who won the disability team award, and Cowes' sailor Natasha Lambert, in the disability senior category.

Presented by gold medal winning Olympic sailor, Shirley Robertson, and County Press audience and content editor, Lucy Morgan, the ceremony was filmed and you can scroll down to see all the winners collecting their accolades.

Among them were sailor Arthur Farley, who is on the Youth Olympic Team and who won the Intermediate Boys category.

Describing his sport as ""super competitive and quite demanding", Arthur is hoping to be among two of six people chosen to compete.

Luke Kerr won the Making a Difference Award.

He said: "I'm delighted to receive and award for twenty years of service to beach soccer, predominantly.

"It gives you the motivation to carry on and do even more.

"Being able to get out and do event, see people, compete, has been really really imporant.

"Sport changes lives."

For her work in netball, Ann Selby was handed the Lifetime Achievement award.

She said: "I am shocked and thrilled.

"My ethos in sport is to get them to achieve the best they possibly can. To go on a court, enjoy, do your best.

"The winning is the icing on the cake, but it isn't the be-all-and-end-all.

"Playing sport helps give focus, concentration, and friends."

Nikita Heathfield won the Senior Women's Award.

She said: "It's an incredible feeling when you're at speed and you've got the cold brisk air going against your cheeks and you jump and you feel like you're flying!

"I remember coaching so many young students when we still had the Island rink.

"Everyone was scared but when they'd done that first lap around the rink, you could see the smiles on their faces."
