AN ISLE of Wight drag performer competed and won her third open heat during a nationwide drag competition last week.

On Tuesday, May 3, Fanny Quivers saw success at Drag Idol UK — at the historic Admiral Duncan in Old Compton Street, Soho.

With three entries permitted per act, Tuesday’s show was her third consecutive win at the first stage of heats.

The other two wins were secured at The William Morris Bar, Walthamstow, and The Two Brewers, Clapham, back in April.

Previous winners of the competition include RuPaul’s Drag Race UK contestant, Baga Chipz, who herself was on the judging panel for the heat on Tuesday night.

She complemented Fanny on being "fabulous, funny, filthy" and "a star", and the Island performer will now go on to compete in the remaining two heat finals later this month.

She regularly performs at various locations around the Island, selling out shows at her home bar, Bar 74, in Ryde.

"This journey so far has been so incredibly fun, if a little bonkers," said Fanny.

"It makes me so happy to continue to proudly represent the Island that I love, alongside wonderfully talented entertainers."

During her ten-minute set at The Admiral Duncan this week, she showcased some of her own stand up, including stories about growing up as a farmer’s son on the Island.

Fanny will be hosting three contestants from the most recent series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK when they visit the Island for the Wight Proms in August.
