POLICE are appealing to the public for help in identifying a man wanted in connection with two shoplifting incidents in Newport. 

Today (Sunday), Hampshire Constabulary released a CCTV image of the man. 

Officers wish to speak to him in relation to two shoplifting incidents off Newport High Street - in Boots.

"It comes after a number of electric razors and toothbrushes were removed from Boots at around 3.25pm on Wednesday, July 27," said a spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary.

"Another incident occurred the following day at the same premises, whereby a further quantity of electrical items were removed from the store.

"We have carried out initial enquiries, but are now asking the public to assist us in identifying who this person might be — as he could help aid our investigation.

"Do you know who this man is? Were you in the store at the time?

"Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting crime reference number 44220303706.

"Alternatively, you can contact independent charity, Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111."
