A COWES pensioner accused of brandishing a knife and pointing it at his elderly neighbour's face will stand trial later this year.

Kenneth Barry, of The Glen, appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates yesterday (Tuesday).

The 72-year-old denied possession of a blade in a public place, in Cowes, on July 24.

He also faced a charge of using threatening, abusive or insulting words/behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress, on the same date.

Prosecutor, Liz Miller, told the court Mr Barry is alleged to have stormed round to his neighbour's flat and brandished a knife in her face.

Mr Barry saw his case adjourned for a trial on October 27 at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court.

He was granted conditional bail.
