A NEWPORT man accused of hitting his partner with a crutch will stand trial later this year.
Benjamin Charles, of Crocker Street, appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates on Tuesday (August 9).
The 31-year-old denied assault occasioning actual bodily harm, in Newport, on July 30.
Prosecutor, Liz Miller, told the court it was a prosecution-led offence, and the alleged victim — Mr Charles' partner — denied the assault happened.
Ms Miller said it was the CPS's view that Mr Charles hit her with a crutch several times, and video footage was available.
A trial date was fixed for October 20 at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court.
Mr Charles was granted conditional bail.
