A NEWPORT law centre has been saved, after announcing its imminent closure last month, after the Isle of Wight Council agreed extra funding.
The IOW Law Centre in Newport announced it would close its doors for the final time on Wednesday, August 31, after 20 years serving Islanders, as attempts to secure further funding failed.
Its closure would have come at a time when the centre’s services were essential for many struggling against the rising cost of living.
In recent weeks, the council has worked closely with trustees to find a way forward.
Extra funding has been agreed to enable the centre to continue providing vital support services.
The agreement will see the Island’s law centre remain open.
