I UNDERSTAND that the number 4 bus from Ryde to East Cowes has to arrive at the Red Funnel ferry in time for passengers to catch it but wondered, if when ferries are expected, it could wait for passengers coming off the ferry before it leaves?

In the daytime it sometimes means a 55 minute wait for the next one.

It would also be good at ferry times, if the buses including the number 5 could actually make an additional stop right outside the ferry terminal, so that passengers with mobility difficulties and/or luggage didn’t have to struggle to and from the Waitrose bus stop.

That would also considerably shorten the time the buses had to wait.

READ MORE: Get your act together, Red Jet and Southern Vectis!

Any delay on any journey encourages passengers to make arrangements other than with public transport.

That is bad for the profitability of great companies like Southern Vectis and as it causes extra quite unneeded car journeys, which are also bad for the environment

If we actually wish to save our world from destruction, we must surely all work towards an environmentally friendly and efficient integrated transport system and be encouraged to use it.
