Could you find your first job with a career-launching apprenticeship with Wight Building Materials (WBM)?
The Blackwater-based business, that has been supplying construction materials to the Isle of Wight building trade for over 80 years, is offering placements for apprenticeships in both electrical and mechanical engineering.
Both posts – which will begin in September – offer an ‘an earn-as-you-learn’ opportunity of a competitive salary combined with a with a four-year training programme.
The placement will combine hands-on experience of work at WBM’s Blackwater quarry with off-Island training in the form of block release study working with the firm's approved training provider Make UK at its technology centre in Birmingham.

WBM is keen to open up employment opportunities to local young people, having enjoyed recent success with its apprenticeship programme.
“We are a proud company with a strong local supply chain and we take great pleasure in offering first-class career opportunities to young people from within the Island community,” said WBM general manager Steve Burton.
“We currently have just under 40 employees – all of who live on the Island – and I’m delighted to be able to expand our workforce through these two apprenticeships.
“We are a company built on sustainable practices and that extends to our recruitment – this is a great opportunity for us to work with two young Island people and provide them with the knowledge and skills to become future business leaders within their own community.”
