NEWPORT’S Quay Arts Centre hosted a well-attended party last Saturday (March 25) to celebrate the final weeks of the Just the Place exhibition.

The exhibition, devised by Boojum&Snark and supported by Arts Council England, celebrates Sandown.

The six projects featured took place over three years and were led by eight creative practitioners, who spoke about their projects at the event.

Tracy Mikich, co-founder of Boojum&Snark, said: “It’s really important for Boojum&Snark to be a champion for Sandown, and so far, around 2,500 people have visited Just the Place!

“As well as giving opportunities for the community to get involved, which has improved well-being, the projects have also helped the creative practitioners to develop their work.”

Chris Ashman, director of regeneration, said: “Just the Place is a great example of how creative inspiration can help crystallise the essence of what a place is and bring unheard voices and ideas into a debate about its future.

“As Sandown asserts its position in the key regeneration area of the wider Bay, this exhibition brings new perspectives to what is great about the town and what needs to change."

The free exhibition runs until April 8 in the West Gallery, open every day 9am – 5pm.
