I was very disappointed to hear the announcement of the closure of the Isle of Wight Law Centre.
It comes after the news that funding of the CAB housing advice desk (which the CAB took over from the Law Centre) at the County Court is to stop at the end of June.
This is a double blow to vulnerable people on the Island.
The Law Centre provided expert support for people with housing difficulties but also advised and assisted people with all sorts of other legal issues.

The Law Centre has been an invaluable support over many years for many people in crisis and will be sorely missed.
The overriding objective of the Civil Procedure Rules requires the court to try to ensure that the people involved are on an equal footing and can participate fully in court proceedings.
This will be much harder to achieve without the Law Centre and the CAB’s housing desk service, leaving many people who are struggling without representation and support.
