An aspiring author based on the Isle of Wight has released her first book, telling the adventurous story of three young red squirrels.

Claire Tiedeman, 50, originally from Surrey but now living on the Island, has published her first book, ‘A Squirrely Tangle’.

A Squirrely Tangle explores the story of three red squirrels whose tree they call home blows down in a storm and, after a big mistake, find themselves far from home.

The book details their journey back, leaping and flying from one adventure to another and making new friends along the way.

Claire spent her childhood holidays in the Lake District, where she developed her love of nature.

Having raised her two children, she now focuses on her passion for poetry and drawing, combining these with the wildlife she watches from her South Wight home.

Claire said: “I am finally getting around to doing the things I love – being out in nature, drawing the wildlife I see and imagining stories to fit.

“It’s a lifting poem for young children that I’m sure would help at bedtimes!”

A Squirrely Tangle is available as paperback, hardback and ePub from Waterstones, Amazon, Barnes and Noble and via the publishers Austin Macauley.
