POLICE have arrested a man who assaulted an officer who tried to break up an argument between a group of people at a popular Isle of Wight seaside spot.
The Isle of Wight Police were called to an incident in Marsh Road, in Gurnard, at 11.24am today (Sunday).
Police had received reports from the public about a heated argument among a group of people.
When they arrived, an officer was assaulted, but there were no serious injuries caused.
Subsequently, a 36-year-old Cowes man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
He remains in police custody at this time.
