Emergency teams were called after a man suffered injuries after ending up in the River Medina this afternoon (Thursday).
The incident happened at a mid-river pontoon off the Folly in Whippingham.
A 69-year-old man had attempted the board a yacht, but ended up in the water.
He was initially rescued by another yacht, but he had suffered a leg injury which required special attention.
Cowes RNLI lifeboat launched at 4.40pm and delivered two crew members to the yacht.
The lifeboat crew then collected two paramedics with a basket stretcher, waiting at East Cowes Marina, before returning to the yacht.
After the man was attended to on the yacht, the lifeboat took him to the marina, where an ambulance was waiting to take him to hospital.
The lifeboat returned to the station at 6.20pm.
