A warning has been issued to dog walkers after suspected poisoned food appeared in Appley.

Pictures posted by Cllr Karen Lucioni, councillor for Ryde Monktonmead, show three piles of what she thinks could be laced food left on Appley Lane.

She has issued an 'urgent' message to those taking their pets along the popular walkway.

She said: "Please do not let your dogs near these. Police are going to investigate now.

"They have appeared again this morning. Keep dogs on leads away from this."

This is not the first time suspicions have been raised over piles of food left near the walkway.

On Monday, July 31, concerned residents took to Facebook to voice fears about what they thought was laced dog food.

On this occasion, dog walkers said it was left in Appley Park.

It's claimed a number of dogs have fallen ill after eating the food.

The County Press has contacted Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary for a comment.

If you see anything suspicious, you're urged to call police on 101, or contact Cllr Lucioni or the Isle of Wight Council directly.
