A popular Isle of Wight retro clothing, furnishings and curiosities shop has announced it will soon close but vows to return.

Rogues of Ryde needs to leave its home of almost three years in The Colonnade on Ryde’s Lind Street as soon as possible, its owner has confirmed.

The closure is due to the sad passing of the building’s previous landlord earlier this year and the present landlord having to sell the shop.

Rogues of Ryde owner Kevin Jackman recalls people telling him the business would only last six months, taking pride in the shop’s popularity prevailing against expectations.

In a statement on Facebook, Kevin said: “It’s an amazing place and will be a real shame for Ryde to see it go!

“We are going to have to have a massive clearance and welcome any offers on anything we have in the shop rather than paying storage until we find a new premises.

“This is hopefully not the end of Rogues! We will find something, and I’ve always believed that things like this are a blessing in disguise and will help it move to the next level.

“Come and grab yourself a bargain!”

Kevin added in a Facebook live (see below) that he hopes to reopen when he’s found a new place, maybe ‘in the springtime’.

The shop started its closing-down sale yesterday (Friday, September 8), with all items 30-70 per cent off.
