The Isle of Wight Walking Festival's Autumn Walking Festival is in full flow.

Whether you enjoy a light stroll, are looking for your next heart-racing challenge or you're simply after a new destination to discover, there is plenty to choose from.

This year's festival, which started on Saturday, October 7 and ends on Sunday, October 15, has over 55 walks - including some old favourites and new additions.

The County Press has picked out just five walks to do this week...


Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary to Godshill via Appuldurcombe House and return

Tomorrow (Wednesday) walkers are invited to take party in this five mile walk.

It begins at the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary and goes via Appuldurcombe House and the village of Godshill.

You can take advantage of the offer to fill up, or refuel at the Sanctuary Café. Walkers should wear wellies, or walking boots!

Fort Victoria History Walk 

On Thursday (12), join the Ranger for a stroll around the remains of Fort Victoria to find out more about this once impressive fort complex.

Find out what it was like in its heyday, why it was built and why it was considered outdated just a few years later.

Northwood House and Estate History

Historian Tim Wander offers a unique opportunity to discover the history of Northwood House, its 23-acre estate and the Ward family’s part in the development of Cowes.

It will be followed by an access-all-areas house tour, which includes tea and coffee.

It takes place on Friday (13).

Warrior Trail

A returning favourite, this walk includes part of the Warrior Trail.

It takes in the countryside where the original ‘War Horse’ named Warrior spent his days with his owner General Jack Seely.

The walk, on Saturday (14), will be led by the General’s descendent, Isle of Wight MP, Bob Seely.

Nature’s Table (Naturezones)

A guided walk and talk around a small 10 acre nature reserve and field study centre at Blackwater, walkers will be exploring habitats and food sources for wildlife through the wild flower meadows and learn how you can help make a difference.

There is also an opportunity to explore pond life and get a close look under the microscope.

Dogs are not are allowed on this nature walk.
