WITH a bout of heavy rain hitting the Isle of Wight yesterday (Wednesday), and further rain this afternoon, a main road between Sandown and Branding has been closed.
Once again, Morton Common is the subject of an emergency road closure.
Island Roads says the closure is due to water levels on the road.
A flood warning for the Eastern Yar remains live today, affecting Sandown, Yaverland, Yarbridge, Brading and Bembridge.
A flood alert is also still active for the Isle of Wight – again for the Eastern Yar.
Yesterday, another was issued for Lukely Brook, from Carisbrooke to Newport.
Flood warning signs were erected at a number of Isle of Wight locations.
This included Parkhurst Road, Blackwater Shute, Morton Common, Merstone Lane, Havenstreet, and Chillerton Main Road.
Island Roads warned motorists to take extra care while out on the network.
