A SANDOWN man who caused more than £2,200 worth of damage to a Salvation Army hostel in Newport, appeared at an Isle of Wight court.

Gavin Buggs, of Culver Parade, admitted two charges of shoplifting £48 worth of alcohol from Tesco Express, Lake, on August 16 and September 30, and causing £2,230.24 worth of criminal damage, namely windows, at a Salvation Army premises on April 8, when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court on Friday, November 10.

A probation officer told magistrates Buggs was due to have a report on him for sentencing on the criminal damage and one of the shoplifting cases, but there was a delay and it was not produced in court.
