Hundreds flocked to the coast today (Tuesday, December 26) for the annual Boxing Day swims across the Isle of Wight.

Brave swimmers and paddlers took to the December sea in Gurnard, Ryde, Seaview, Shanklin and Ventnor, with hundreds more looking on.

Gurnard’s Boxing Day dip helped raise much-needed funding for The Wave Project to help children struggling with mental health issues.

In Ryde, swimmers lined up at the Ryde Beach Lifeguard Station (RBLG), near the Big Kahuna beach cafe, before darting to the Solent at 10am.
The swim raised an amazing £318.17 for the RBLG.
Meanwhile, in Seaview, a Boxing Day swim was held in memory of Zoe Panayi at Springvale Beach.
Zoe’s brother, Charalambous, has been taking on 12 challenges in ten months, which included today’s Seaview Boxing Day swim.

Shanklin’s Small Hope Beach welcomed brave souls for their Boxing Day charity swim just after midday.
The swim, near the Salix Beach Cafe, raised money for the Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat.
And finally, in Ventnor, a favourite for many Island swimmers, paddlers and spectators, hundreds rushed into the sea off the Esplanade.
This year’s swim was in aid of Ventnor Carnival Association, PATCH, Ventnor Foodbank and Wroxall Foodbank.
