An investigation has been launched following an assault which took place inside the Isle of Wight prison during the lead-up to Christmas.
Police enquiries are underway after reports of an assault at HMP Isle of Wight, off Parkhurst Road in Newport.
The incident happened inside the walls of the prison on the evening of Friday, December 22, said the force.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary have not yet confirmed the circumstances around the assault.
No arrests have been made at this time, and enquiries remain ongoing.
