A popular Isle of Wight walking route has been blocked by what appears to be a fresh landslip, prompting a safety warning.

Earlier today (Sunday), Gill Green set off on a circular route around Castlehaven Lane, near Niton, across the fields to the lighthouse and towards St Catherine’s Road.

However, she discovered part of the footpath, adjacent to the Island's south coast, has slipped.

Although the route is blocked off on the caravan park side, it remains open on the National Trust side, says Gill.

Via the Isle of Wight Community Information Facebook group, she has warned other walkers in the area to be careful.

Gill says she has reported the problem to the National Trust, which owns the land.
