POPULAR Channel 5 documentary about the Isle of Wight and some of its characters, Jewel of the South, returns to our screens within the next fortnight.

The second series is back on Thursday, February 1.

It’s summer on the Isle of Wight, and in Cowes, and fans of the programme will learn about a brand new flavour for the season ice-cream producers, sisters Louise Hart and Jenny Simmons, are rolling out at the Royal Isle of Wight County Show.

Near the historic town of Yarmouth, meanwhile, Neil and Michelle Payne have given up their day jobs to follow their dream and set up their alpaca walking business.

And sailor, Libby Finch and her crew on yacht The Nightjar, compete against 1,100 other boats in the Round the Island Race.

In the first series, which went on to become a national hit, had originally been planned to run as four one-hour long editions.

But due to its popularity, the series was extended by two further shows.

It featured a myriad of characters, which included singer Derek Sandy, marine biologist Theo Vickers, thatching expert Darcy Muncer and deep sea diver Martin Woodford.

Starts at 8pm.
