A suspected drug driver has been arrested following a stop by police on the outskirts of Ryde on the Isle of Wight.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said the driver of the black 1-Series BMW has also been detained on suspicion of having no insurance and licence.

Police pulled the car over on Beaper Shute, not long after a separate incident - a crash - at Westridge Cross, last night (Wednesday).

Officers conducted a roadside breath and saliva test before making the arrest.

The driver was taken to Newport Police Station for further tests.

The car was seized and is now in the compound.
