A MEMBER of the public has found a piece of scientific marine equipment reported lost off the Isle of Wight on Thursday, following an appeal made on X (Twitter) and on the County Press website.
The University of Plymouth posted that one of its acoustic receivers, which detects fish and sharks marine science researchers have been tagging around the Island, came loose from its position on the seabed off the West Wight.

It was last seen on Brook beach, with an appeal to the public to help find it, and the County Press picked up the story.
A member of the public found the equipment on Brook beach, and contacted the manufacturer, before being shown the County Press article and getting in touch with Dr Alice Hall, a postgraduate research fellow at the university, who had been conducting the research off the Island coast.
Today (Sunday), Dr Hall confirmed the equipment has now been successfully located.
